Town of Drayton Valley Community Committees
The Town of Drayton Valley operates a number of boards & committees that are designed to enhance the community. Some of these committees have vacancies periodically, and are in need of public membership. Committee & board membership is paid, and in addition to earning money, you are providing valuable input to your community. Committee descriptions are listed below. The pay grade for meetings ranges from $153-$331. For more information on joining a board or committee, please contact the Councillor listed below the committee descriptions.

Aquatic Facility Fund Development Strategy Committee
The purpose of the Fund Development Strategy Committee is to establish a plan that will result in the acquisition of the necessary funds and financing in order to proceed with the construction of a new aquatic facility for the Drayton Valley and Brazeau community. The individual strategies in the plan are expected to be implemented over the next five to ten year period. (No current vacancies)

Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with a focus on enhancing green spaces in communities.

The Drayton Valley Municipal Library has been operating for over 55 years, and is governed by the DVML Board. The Board is enacted under the Town of Drayton Valley Bylaw #99-15. The Board is responsible for the Drayton Valley Municipal Library, Rotary Children’s Library, and Words on Wheels van which does library programs in the community. (No current vacancies)

The Board shall direct the operations of the Early Childhood Development Centre based on the annual budget and policies established by the Town of Drayton Valley. Specifically, the Board is responsible for and provides support and direction to the Early Childhood Development Centre Program Manager. (Currently 1 vacancy)

The Mayor’s Advisory Committee is established to provide feedback on local needs, areas of improvement, and issues to be addressed by Council. Moreover, the Committee’s purpose is to enhance communication between the Public and Council towards common goals, provide Council with ideas to promote the community as well as to make recommendations for celebrations, recognition of people, and events. Finally, the Mayor’s Advisory Committee is also able to provide feedback on Council’s decision making practices in terms of fairness and equity.

Traffic Advisory Committee
The Traffic Advisory Committee is formed to advise
Administration and Council on all matters pertinent to traffic and traffic safety concerns on Drayton Valley rights of way and recommend various courses of action to Council. (No current vacancies)
